History

Government Polytechnic for Women, Faridabad is one of the premier technical institutions of Haryana. The Institute is situated at a distance of 30 Kms. from ISBT Delhi. It came into existence at its present location, with its ideal environment for education, in Sector–8 of HUDA, Faridabad in August 1999. The Institution was set up completely under the World Bank Project with an approximate expenditure of Rs. 12.0 Crore. Its building is raised across a well spread green area over 11 acres of land and houses the Institution campus, the hostel and the residential colony.

Govt. Polytechnic for Women, Faridabad was established in 1995 with guest classes held at Govt. Polytechnic for Women, Sirsa. In the month of August 1999, the first batch of students was admitted to Government Polytechnic for Women, Faridabad in three disciplines – Computer Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, and Architectural Assistantship – through the centralized State admissions. To keep pace with market demand, four more disciplines were added over time: Fashion Design, Business Management, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, widening the career scope of students in the region.

As part of community development, the institute runs various short-term courses under schemes provided by the Government. The institution has produced consistent state board toppers and sporting achievements, making it a first choice among girl aspirants in the region.
